Citizen Journalism Cage Match: Paul Carr vs. Jeff Jarvis

The strangest bit about this exchange is that it’s playing out on Techcrunch, a website established by Michael Arrington. Process journalism (and citizen journalism falls under that umbrella) has few more vocal (or published) advocates than that of Arrington and Jarvis.

I also wonder if Carr isn’t trying to secure his job with this argument, which taken to its extreme reinforces the importance of the existence of traditional media.

In the end the two sides sort of agree that what the world needs right now is Media Literacy. A public life has its rewards, but understand when you’re speaking to the world and remember that other people like to lead private lives.
